Within three minutes of waking up this morning, I began googling "things to do with kids in DFW." I knew our little monster would be awake shortly after me, so we had to have a plan.
Gone are the days of laying in my pj's, watching reruns of Shark Tank for hours on end. We now have another human in the house to entertain. A very busy, energetic human.
We made a game plan and woke up the half pterodactyl-half monkey. After getting ready, we were headed downtown to the Farmers Market. Several events followed...Clyde Warren park, then a photo shoot, lunch with Lea and baby Hudson and C and my Beanie Baby, Gigi's cupcakes, a trip to our second park in one day, and then dinner at home.
It was a full day, but I loved spending time with LL and being a part of making new memories with her.
LL's quotes:
- LL: "How do cars move?" Bry: "How detailed of an answer do you want?" LL: "All of it." ....5 minutes later.... LL: "But how do they move??" Then it started all over again...
- "My eyes were bigger than my stomach."
- "Kids love to scare adults."
- "Is this what it's going to be like when I get a foster sister?" (She had to talk quietly at Lea's house because both of the babies were sleeping. For some reason, she has this idea in her head that we're going to have another foster child soon.)
- "Wherever there's bird poop, there's a bird laying an egg nearby."
- Me: "We'll have to ask Mr. Brian." LL: "He'll probably say no. I had a dad who said no to everything. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no."
- "Do you take this bird to be your honoring death?" (Spoken to the dead bird on our front porch during it's "funeral.")
- Mom's text: "What are LL's favorite things?" Here was her answer, verbatim: "Ten thousand pieces of candy. A puppy. A real puppy. Barbie dolls. A REAL puppy. And kitties. A kitten. Dolls. Which I don't have any. Giant bears. FAKE. Just type in stuffed bear. Lucy. I already have Lucy. How much money does she have? I would like a horse. A painted horse. Ten thousand Barbie dolls each day. That's mostly it. And a sister. And two thousand dollars."

About Us:
We began our foster journey in mid-August 2013. We finished our classes in October, had our home study in early January, and we were licensed on February 7, 2014. After seven calls from CPS, we received our first placement, a 7-year-old girl (our Little Lady, or LL for short) on April 3, 2014. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our journey through the craziness that is foster care. Most importantly, thanks for your prayers, love, and support. We hope to encourage fellow foster/adoptive parents as we document our ups and downs each day.
