Over the last six and a half weeks, many of you have asked what you can do to help us. Usually, my answer is something like, "Nothing. Ok, maybe send us candy and forgive me for never wearing makeup, having my hair done, or being on time to any of your events again, thanks."
However, if you're interested in helping us in other ways, we'd love it if you wanted to become licensed babysitters!!
Here are the requirements for our agency:
- Copy of driver's license
- 18 years old+
- Background check including fingerprints; if providing care in your own home, must have fingerprints on all household members 14 years old and up
- CPR and first aid with copy of card for the file. Card must remain current.
- Signed confidentiality training and discipline policy.
- Medication training with certificate for the file. Must be taken annually.
LL's quotes:
- Bry: "That's the trail we drove on." LL: "I know. I can see your tire prints!"
- Bry: "Actually, all of those lakes are man made." (He went on to explain water treatment plants and how they clean the water.) LL: "They better clean the alligator spit."
- "My nana says that sometimes I just need a good, ole spankin." (Of course, I explained that we will never, ever spank or hit her.)

About Us:
We began our foster journey in mid-August 2013. We finished our classes in October, had our home study in early January, and we were licensed on February 7, 2014. After seven calls from CPS, we received our first placement, a 7-year-old girl (our Little Lady, or LL for short) on April 3, 2014. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our journey through the craziness that is foster care. Most importantly, thanks for your prayers, love, and support. We hope to encourage fellow foster/adoptive parents as we document our ups and downs each day.
