Will you teach me how to dance?

Thank you to all of our friends, family, and fellow foster/adoptive moms who texted, emailed, messaged, called, and commented after I wrote the previous post. Your encouragement and thoughtfulness mean so much to us and we would not be able to get through each day without your notes, love, and prayers.

I really appreciate hearing all of your stories and your perspective - people who have adopted kiddos, former foster kids, stepmoms, etc. - I took all of your messages to heart. There are a lot of things that are uncertain in our lives right now, but I am certain that we are meant to take care of this Little Lady right now, so we'll keep doing that and loving her like crazy for as long as the Lord wants her to be in our home. Thanks for keeping things in perspective and reminding me that we are doing the right things for her, whether or not she understands (or appreciates) what we're doing.

LL's quotes:

- "Your '2 minutes' and my mom's '2 minutes' are really different. My mom used to say, 'You have 2 more minutes to play,' and I'd take one step, and it was over!" LL has her own timer and we time almost everything, so I think she's getting better at understanding how long things actually take.
- "Why do I have to use a napkin? I'm at home here! It's a country restaurant. I shouldn't have to use this thing!"
- Brian handed LL a piece of broccoli and she dunked it in ranch dressing (as she does with most foods), and she said, "Look, it's snow on a tree!" To which Bry said, "You should try cauliflower - you don't even have to add snow to those trees!"
- "We can't leave yet. I need to see everything! I need to go look at that deer, and that cactus, and I need to stick my finger in that cactus!"

Intense peanut cracking at Texas Roadhouse (her new favorite place!)

I'm not sure why, but she loves unlocking the door. She always insists on opening the door by herself when we get home.

About Us:

We began our foster journey in mid-August 2013. We finished our classes in October, had our home study in early January, and we were licensed on February 7, 2014. After seven calls from CPS, we received our first placement, a 7-year-old girl (our Little Lady, or LL for short) on April 3, 2014. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our journey through the craziness that is foster care. Most importantly, thanks for your prayers, love, and support. We hope to encourage fellow foster/adoptive parents as we document our ups and downs each day.
