Jesus and the Tooth Fairy

How do you explain what "offering" is to a 7-year-old who may have never heard of it? We tried to explain that even though it seems like we own all of our stuff, it really all belongs to God because He blessed us with everything we have.

Bry handed her a coin purse with a few dollars in change and told her that she could put some (or all of it) in the offering plate during kids' church, to which she replied, "Yup, and then the teacher will put it under her pillow and it'll be gone in the morning."

Ummm, something like that.

LL and her new best friend!

Watching this happy lady making tortillas at Abuelos! The girls kept waving and smiling at her. It was precious!

Her two new favorite things...eating coconuts after Bry breaks them with his bare hands and wearing my boots.

Her other best friend.

Proof that I officially have a preteen in the house...I've had to learn the art of the Rainbow Loom bracelet. Pretty proud of myself...I went from beginner to advanced in one day! Can't wait to teach LL how to do it, too! Thanks for the gift, Paige!

LL's quotes:
- LL is starting to catch on to our discipline techniques. Lucy didn't listen to one of her commands, so she sent her to bed and said, "Lucy, you're going to have a five minute time-in." She sat next to the crate for about 38 seconds and then let her out of the crate. She went on, "Lucy, the reason I sent you to bed was because you were not following the directions. Give me a hug. I love you. High five!" (PRICELESS.)
- (Looking at her pink gums and sparkly, white teeth) "They should put me on TV!"
- "I had three kids this week." (Referring to the balloons in the bathtub.)

About Us:

We began our foster journey in mid-August 2013. We finished our classes in October, had our home study in early January, and we were licensed on February 7, 2014. After seven calls from CPS, we received our first placement, a 7-year-old girl (our Little Lady, or LL for short) on April 3, 2014. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our journey through the craziness that is foster care. Most importantly, thanks for your prayers, love, and support. We hope to encourage fellow foster/adoptive parents as we document our ups and downs each day.
