New Wheels

Surprising our Little Lady has quickly become my favorite activity! It's like the best part of parenting EVER. We bought her a bike about a week ago, but we were so busy this week that we agreed we shouldn't give it to her unless we were able to go riding that day. We had a great time bike riding for about two hours this afternoon!

LL's quotes (she was full of them today!):
- (After bike riding), me: "Do you want to take a break for a few minutes?" LL: "Sure, I could take a monkey bar break!"
- (Burp) "Well, I got that off my chest!"
- We write letter(s) to LL everyday and hide them in her lunchbox. We didn't realize that we haven't written any letters in the last few days because she didn't have school, so she's been going to daycare. I guess we just got out of our routine and completely forgot to send her lunch notes to daycare. She brought this to our attention and said, "I bet you were having letter withdrawals!"
- "Mmmm these buns have sesame seeds on them. Do you know where these seeds are from? Sesame Street."
- "When God sends people down from Heaven, he doesn't make them invisible. He makes them solid. Like Jesus."

Her new bike was waiting for her in the garage so she'd see it when the door opened!

Testing out her new ride.

Checking out the turtles and the ducks.

Forcing the ducks to eat the bread she found in the grass.

One last ride around the park.

My favorite time of the day...when the three of us (and Lucy) cram ourselves into the bottom bunk and do our bedtime routine - Bible story first, then a book of her choosing, then prayers, one song, and goodnight hugs. I look forward to this half hour more than anything else all day long!

About Us:

We began our foster journey in mid-August 2013. We finished our classes in October, had our home study in early January, and we were licensed on February 7, 2014. After seven calls from CPS, we received our first placement, a 7-year-old girl (our Little Lady, or LL for short) on April 3, 2014. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our journey through the craziness that is foster care. Most importantly, thanks for your prayers, love, and support. We hope to encourage fellow foster/adoptive parents as we document our ups and downs each day.
