Little Chef

Day 14 with our Little Lady included a walk to Walmart with Bry for pancake-makings, her first day at aftercare, and helping Bry make dinner!

Today was the first day that I was able to work for an entire day for the first time in two weeks. Needless to say, I'm terribly behind with projects at work, so it was nice to be able to spend time working on some of those things, but it was hard to be away from LL so much. I only got to spend about 2 hours with this little girl today. Is this what it's like to be a working parent?? I helped her get ready in the morning, and then I spent an hour with her before bedtime. It just isn't enough. We'll definitely hold our weekends sacred for family time!

LL's quotes:
- "My feet smell RIPE!"

About Us:

We began our foster journey in mid-August 2013. We finished our classes in October, had our home study in early January, and we were licensed on February 7, 2014. After seven calls from CPS, we received our first placement, a 7-year-old girl (our Little Lady, or LL for short) on April 3, 2014. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our journey through the craziness that is foster care. Most importantly, thanks for your prayers, love, and support. We hope to encourage fellow foster/adoptive parents as we document our ups and downs each day.

  1. Yes. Sadly, when you're a working parent (especially one that works well over 40 hours) you miss so much precious extra time w them. When my daughter was in daycare over 50 hours a week I felt so much guilt for not being able to enjoy playtime with her. It was all "getting ready" for this or that, meals and baths and appointments. The Saturdays and Sundays we can just be together with no agenda were so sacred. -A
